So grateful for Hubby's strict discipline and frugal attitude back then. I am shocked at how many sensible people I know are working purely to pay off credit cards. <br />We have a credit card for emergencies and keep it in a filing cabinet. We both do a lot of internet shopping and have Visa-debit cards for these purchases. It is possible to survive (and thrive) with less, there's no need to run up massive bills on, effectively, nothing.
