I did a 'ditch the credit card' challenge in November with resounding success, however after the December glut of overspending I need to get back out of the credit card sling!! I love the $5 note challenge Kathy, we are off on holidays in April so I'm doing this with my goldies but might add the $5 notes to it too, will keep you posted!! Cheers, Jan xJan (a gluttonous wife)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04980538485559579650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068767580688539325.post-24219199378392656842014-01-04T16:10:39.752+11:002014-01-04T16:10:39.752+11:00I love that money challenge.......I've seen it...I love that money challenge.......I've seen it before however haven't done it but decided this year to do it. I too will add some extra money from time to time so that the last couple of months are not too difficult.

The other EASY money challenge is to never spend a $5 note. If you have one in your wallet don't spend it put it away. Seriously you don't notice $5 gone from your wallet however $5 adds up pretty quickly. This is the easiest money challenge. I've been doing this for a couple of years. I invested in $500 worth of shares and also it pays for my hair cut and colours as well. It's so simple. I was explaining this concept to my 19 and 21 year old nieces and whilst they thought it was a great idea they said they never use cash because they eftpos everything (umm...) the downside to not using cash. I have been using cash (I also use eftpos) however mostly cash put aside for groceries, petrol and hair etc. for a few years now. CASH IS KING. You notice how much cash you spend when you open your wallet and there is $10 left. You don't notice how much you spend when you have a few receipts in your wallet. VISUAL works best I say. I'm in with the 52 week challenge.
